This week’s top 10 dedicated to Adam Yauch. Listen to some of my favorite tracks by the beloved trio.

I am getting older and those stars that I started admiring as a kid and and respected as an adult are passing away. Today Adam Yauch died of a 3 year battle with cancer. License to Ill was the 3rd cassette that i owned. I used to play that tape to death. I loved how over the years the matured as people and artist. There are very few hip hop groups that get better with age and they were definitely one. He will be missed in the Hip Hop and Music community. R.I.P. Adam Yauch

Dope cover of the black street classic “no diggity” this reminds of a usual nonsense dream concept. so i was of course excited that some executed it well.

New Santigold!!!! This is the first single and I got to say it  has me super excited for her 2nd album to drop. In a world of the same pop sound over and over it is great to have some originality that can also speak to the masses.

Some old Kid Cudi for you produced by Dot Da Genius that never got released until now. Pretty simple beat, but I love the piano loop on it. You can lost in the song and his lyrics. I always appreciate him singing on hooks not a beautiful voice but just makes sense in the track. Much more based in Hip Hop vs.  his new stuff that can be a little out there for me. For sure worth a listen and if you like you can download here.

February 11, 2012 Whitney Houston died. We grew up listening to her, watching her perform and being inspired by her incredible voice. Yesterday sick at home I watched the funeral. I was moved to tears several times listening to her family speak to listening to a special rendition of “Ribbon in the Sky” by Stevie Wonder. Unfortunately in the later part of life was consumed with drug addiction and even worse that downfall was captured on a reality television show. We all laughed at the mess that were Bobby and Whitney because it was on TV and was not our parents, sister or mother. Watching the funeral it reminded of what incredible life she had and all the people that loved her and she loved. The drug addiction was a part of her life that took her too soon but there was definitely more to her than that. She leaves a legacy of music that will always be remembered and will continue inspiring. Here are some of my favorite songs. I found some acapellas to highlight her amazing voice
